Our Privacy Promise

MoveCostMatrix is a privacy-first moving cost calculator. We designed the entire service so that no personal data ever leaves your browser. You do not need an account, you do not need to provide an email address, and we do not track your usage.

What Data We Collect

None. We do not collect, store, or process any personal information. All calculations — including origin and destination entries, distance results, and cost estimates — run entirely in your browser using JavaScript. No data is sent to our servers.

Third-Party Services

The only external network request the calculator makes is to the zippopotam.us API, a free public postal-code lookup service. This request is made only when you enter a valid US ZIP, Canadian, UK, or Australian postal code, and it is used solely to look up latitude/longitude coordinates for distance calculation. No identifying information is transmitted beyond the postal code you entered. If you enter a city name instead of a postal code, no external request is made at all.

Cookies

We do not use cookies, tracking pixels, or any other form of persistent identifier. The only local storage used is your dark-mode preference (movecost-theme), which is stored in your browser’s localStorage and never transmitted anywhere.

Analytics

We do not use Google Analytics, server logs, or any analytics service. There are no tracking scripts embedded in this site.

Data Retention

Since we collect no data, there is nothing to retain. Your calculation results exist only in your browser tab and disappear when you close or refresh the page.

Changes to This Policy

If we make material changes to this policy, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top. Because we collect no data, any changes will relate to new third-party integrations or service architecture, which we will clearly document.
