Our Research Process
Every estimate on MoveCostMatrix is grounded in published data. Our team reviews and updates per-mile rates quarterly using three primary sources: (1) published rate schedules from major providers including U-Haul, PODS, United Van Lines, and Atlas Van Lines; (2) industry benchmark data from the American Moving and Storage Association; and (3) regulatory data from the FMCSA and US DOT Household Goods Survey. Regional cost multipliers are adjusted based on local labor market data, fuel price indices, and currency exchange rates.
